Is it true, dear Sue?
Are there two?
I shouldn't like to come
For fear of joggling Him!
If I could shut him up
In a Coffee Cup,
Or tie him to a pin
Till I got in—
Or make him fast
To "Toby's" fist—
Hist! Whist! I'd come!

Comments2Just read "Is it true, dear Sue?", gotta say, not my favorite. Felt it had some confusing parts and didn't quite deliver what I want in a poem. I understand others may like it, but It didn't really do it for me. Wish it had gripped me more.
This piece evokes such a playful display of imagination and innocence. One cannot avoid feeling transported to a time of childhood games and humorous whimsies. The language used is simple enough to grasp and follow, yet it contains a depth within its humorous undertone. Definitely brings a smile to my face every time I read it.
