Chocolate Delight on avenue de l’Opéra

Jim Yates

Chocolate Delight on avenue de l’Opéra

How can I resist

How can I not be tempted?

How can I turn the other way

And ignore the dark delight

That winks and smiles at me

Through the window of Chocolats Foucher

On the avenue de l’Opéra?

Shall I walk past this sweet temptation

That is screaming at me to enter?

Shall I be wise and turn my head the other way

And leave this temptation behind.

Shall I pat myself on the head for being good

For ignoring this enticing chocolate vice?

Or shall I stare in wonder through the window

At the well displayed trays of tasty chocolate delight,

Shall I open the door and let their fragrance

Take over and smother my senses.

Shall I give in to this chocolate temptation?

Shall I? What a fool not to.
