Nowhere left to go?

hollyann

Exhausted, scared and weak,
Staying quiet, but needing to speak.

Make someone laugh, slap on a smile,
Inside crying all the while.

The smiles and jokes are hiding the pain,
Slowly the dark thoughts drive her insane.

Feelings of worthlessness flooding her head
'They'll do better without me, I'm better off dead.'

Reasons to stay, she can't seem to find
The love that surrounds, pushed out of her mind.

Not wanting to live, not ready to die,
Does she swallow the pills, or give life one last try?

WELCOME HOLLY ~ Thanks for your first poem. Elegantly written in SIX balanced rhyming couplets. East to read & recite ~ but with a very sad subject ! Love your smile ~ so I guess it's descriptive rather the autobiographical ? I teach Vocational Students (16 to 25) in a College and many of their angst is reflected in your poem ! No reason to stay ~ Not wanting to live ~ But not ready to die ~ A dilemma ! I always counsel my Students ~ steer clear of Drugs ~ Self harm ~ Pills etc because once you are DEAD you can't change your mind ! We should always give LIFE ANOTHER TRY ~ how ever bad the situation. Thanks for a thought provoking POEM ~ more please ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my Poems. MPS works by reading and commenting on each others poems ~ Thanks B !
