The lack of fame
my spirit free
A bird uncaged
amongst the trees
Its weight not lifted
and never there
My breath in sequence
above the air
The lack of fame
art’s greatest gift
My oath to no one
allegiance kept
As thoughts go hither
and feelings yon
My soul untempered
—my words to song
(Villanova Pennsylvania: September, 2018)
Yes
Waiting for the final ticket out,
I would write that ending word
And bid goodbye to all I’d said
both ignored—and often heard
I asked the conductor about the fare,
he said “How much can you pay”
As I held my pen, three letters
came together—so arranged
A moment lingered, a lifetime flashed,
the past and future caught
And with voucher punched I climbed aboard
stamped YES—salvation bought

Kurt,
Superb!
A free spirit unencumbered by the mundane is life’s special gift!
~Laura~
Fame, money and notoriety has stopped more artists in their tracks than poverty, sickness, and misfortune combined.
It's rare that the famous maintain their creativity and production into middle-age and beyond.
A shame really, those should be their best years.
Thanks Laura
🙂
All too true; however, you’re the exception! You’ve maintained your “creativity and production into middle-age and beyond.” I’m looking forward to your future writings with anticipation!

.... and I've hated the book signings, writer's conferences, press releases etc. I turned down a deal to turn 'Death From The Sky' into a movie last year because all I want to do is write. They wanted active author involvement and I could taste the commerciality from their booking agent.
Thanks as always Laura.
...and this is why I admire you so!
You truly are a man unto yourself! I sensed that from the first time I read your work; hence, the attraction!
You're better than any drug or intoxicant, and you know I appreciate it.
Thanks Laura
Kurt
⬆️Powerful! 🙏🏻⬆️

May the Spirit of Crazy Horse be forever a central part of your life and may you always ride together!
The present read I’ve begun is totally on a different level! I’ve never read anything like it! The more I read it, the more I’m appreciating who YOU are!
Thanks Laura, readers tend to love or hate Crazy Horse. It has a polarizing effect.
Kurt
I’m halfway through...
...and so far, I’m loving him!
