Pain.

Firebird

In a moment of weakness she gave herself 10 deep scars that would never leave her skin. A constant reminder of how in this moment life got to hard, the expectations of reality set the bar to high and that the blunt pain of a cut was the only thing that could make her feel something, anything just so she could try to be normal instead of being the numb shell of a person she didn't even recognise anymore, she could remind herself she was real. It was the only way she could think of to control the voices in her head, so she could focus on the blood running down her arm instead of the how fat she was or all of the times she had failed so many things and people.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a very personal poem and I am so sorry I haven't posted in literally a year. I am sorry if this doesn't make any sense I just wrote for me to be honest and I haven't spent that much time on it so it might not even have the right grammar or anything but I am posting it on here to see what people think. Sorry xx

Reading this broke my heart I can remember feeling this way.
    Painfully beautiful.

After reading your writing I trace the scares I left on my legs I have three that I don’t think will ever fade.

    Know this,

These days do not last forever, if you choose to dig do so with a pen let the ink take the place of the blood you focus on.

I understand the want to feel something
    Anything

Close your eyes and listen to the heart beating in your chest... you know the crazy thing about that heart.

It may feel pain and may even break a few times in your life.

    But it will keep beating.

Keep your head up and feel free to reach out even if it is just to talk.

    With love,
    -B-
