cliffhanger

IndisClaire

Id call it a cliff hanger

but that would imply there was more to the story

that you didn't leave us dangling by our finger tips

with out a rope

that you didn't leave us in the middle of no where

with out a map

that would imply closure

I don't really know where to go from here

its been over a year now

my heart doesn't drop into my stomach

when I hear your name any more

the third passes by each month

and I don't even notice

I don't remember what your smile looks like

or the color of your eyes

I cant picture your face

I still call you my best friend

but I've learned to apply past tense

I've learned saying we will see you again

is a way of holding on longer than we should

I've learned saying you aren't in pain any more

is a way of easing my own guilt

I've learned time really does fly

but not just when your having fun

and loss is synonymous to empty

but I've also learned to stop blaming myself

it didn't matter how many times i told you

I loved you

or it would get better

i couldn't change your mind

you were so anxious to see how your story ended

you skipped over the most important chapters

when you fell

there wasn't enough salt in the dead sea to make you float

you see I can't call it a cliff hanger

because there will never be

a sequel
