A great write with an awesome alliteration! There’s a lot going on within those nine words!
At first I read it as if it were a nightmare where one is screaming without making a sound sound.
On the second read, another thought came to mind because of today...

It was written as a personal expression but equally to resonate with wider socio-political sentiments.
The 9/11 connection was not intended but you are right that it fits perfectly.
