Fifteen

JB

I make decisions

That impact my whole life.

Where to go to college

As long as it's respectable.

What to learn.

As long as it's science.

My hobbies.

As long as it's profitable.

My life

As long as It's perfect.

I get to choose my life

As long as it's the one I've been told I can have.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Why the hell am I fifteen years old and being told that I need to choose the rest of my life right now, but spending highschool doing things that I don't want to be doing for the rest of my life?

Thanks for you challenging POEM JB ! I was 15, 20 years ago and I too had to make many decisions. I chose SCIENCE because it answered all the questions I had about LIFE & LOVE & LIGHTENING etc. I am now Head of Applied Science in a Vocational College where all the students are 17+ ! They love being in College because they are studying Vocational Subjects ~ Catering ~ Engineering ~ Music ~ Health & Beauty etc which they LOVE ! Every Blessing for the FUTURE ~ Science opens many DOORS into the World of Work etc. Yours BRIAN. Please check my site which I share with my FIANCEE who is on a Work exchange in New Zealand. Yours BRIAN

Such a huge burden to carry at such a young age. There is no rush to figure everything out. take one big decision at a time, it will eventually fall into place as long as you stay true to yourself. Good luck!
