Parental Slaughter

BoxMyHeart

I got feelings buried in me

that run 6 feet deep

whether i liked it or not we had real beef

i’m tougher than the stories

you told about me

grew up to be a person with

some dignity

but i wont let you shadow me

and i damn well wont let you shatter me

im gonna rise from the dirt

I’ll survive all of the hurt

I have a lot to say

and live in constant fear

the feelings will always stay

as much as I loved you,

I hated you too,

fucked up kind of world

put a mixed up pearl to be raised by a thief

the heist was the drink

but i was your daughter

you hit the bottle

and sealed your own slaughter

and i will still defend you

my own flesh and blood

see I am the protective type

And you and I,

we are nothing alike

WELCOME FRIEND ~ Thanks for your first POEM ~ Very Open & Sad but I guess true. Many Children's lives are blighted by Parental Drinking. It never happened to me (thank GOD) but I have Friends (and Students) who have had similar experiences but in many cases they still stay loyal to their folks as your poem implies ! Please check my site which I share with my Fiancee ANGELA. MPS works by reading & commenting on each other POETRY ~ OK ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)
