You say you love me
I take a deep breath and repeat that in my mind
You say you love me
Your holding me crying.
I can feel your hand digging into my arm
It’s like your hanging on as if your life depended on it.
I look up
You say you love me
You see the fear in my eyes
I pull away
You say you love me
He’s right I cant leave
He loves me
I can feel your presence in the air
I want today to be a good day
I could cut the tension with a knife it’s so intense
You say you love me
Then why do I feel like i’m walking on eggshells
Stay in line I cant mess up today
One wrong move, one wrong word
I mess up
Deep down I knew it was inevitable
I see his eyes and I know he’s no longer in love
He’s dark and I know it
I can feel my lungs slowly collapsing
I try to fix it
Makes everything worse
I beg for it to stop
It’s getting cold
I feel something on the floor
It’s wet
Looking down seeing my hands
Their red
Everything’s getting fuzzy, grainy
I’m short of breath
Scared
This isn’t real
I take a deep breath and repeat in my mind
He says he loves me
The only thing that lets me breathe even for a moment..
He says he loves me..
He loves me..
You said you love me.

WELCOME RAVEN ~Thanks for your first Poem a very poignant & sad. account of "unrequited love".Many of us have had similar experiences (although Males generally drown their sorrows in alcohol rather than self~harm). Unrequited Love is hard to bear at first we meet it with disbelief ~ then despair ~ then self~harm & grief etc. I share this site with my FIANCEE ANGELA and we have both had heartaches in the past but our Love is very Secure. There is life after LOVE collapses. Thanks for sharing so openly & frankly trust you found it CATHARTIC. thank you so much and i’ll be sure to check you guys out! i’ve never written before so it was nerve racking so I had to get it on paper
Great job, Raven.
I'm hopeful this poem is fiction, since my imagination ran wild with something wet on the floor and your red hands.
Suspense poetry is wonderful and I enjoyed yours immensely. 🙂
Thank you so much I just started writing as a way to help me cope and unfortunately the poem was from an awful experience and i’m doing my best to move forward
