Let me tell you a tale
One that we all know
Of awkward beginnings
An amateur show
The very first butterflies
Our sweat covered hands
The nervous stutter
School ground plans
The moment of truth
Your mouth starts to open
A new adventure started
With a heart yet unbroken
You forget your name
Or even say hello
Unsure what to do
Your cheeks begin to glow
As panic starts to build
You wonder what you've done
Your eyes dart wildly around
Your legs just want to run
Then you see them smiling
The world begins to slow
Being lost within the moment
Our first love that we know
We leave our story here
The romance blossoms more
But remember the golden rules
No farting and do not snore

- Comment from author about the poem: I had to put something on more positive and up beat and this fit the bill perfectly. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it ☺️

Thank you for my first laugh of the day. Such a beautiful poem about first love and then the last two lines, wonderful.
You've captured, with humor, the awkwardness involved with one's first love. The cadence and images are great. I enjoyed it. 🙂
LOL And there i was sure in my belief that farting and snoring were two essential traits which had to be surpassed and embraced into a wholesome loving relationship...... is this why all mine have ended tits - up i wonder?
