What Stops Us

The Retired Bloke

What stops us

Freezes ambition

Prevents new experiences

Limits growth

Halts progress

Restricts new relationships

Undermines ones potential

Fear,

Fear of reality

Fear of perceived reality

Fear of being fearful

Fear of failure.

Fear.

A fine write Retired. It's similar to 'worry'. Some may even worry that there does not seem much to worry about! doh!
I'm fearful of crossing some bridges, literally, if I can see the ground or river beneath. Though I got across certain bridge years ago, I can't seem to cross it now. On the other side of the bridge is more country walking to explore. And see-through steps are horrible, where you can see the ground beneath.

My wife too is fearful of similar bridges.

This is so very true, I was talking about this with my daughter yesterday. It is fear that is the problem with all things, once that fear has been conquered (the door has been opened) it becomes part of our experience.

Absolutely. We only learn when we face into our fears.

        The Retired Bloke,

A great write! As I was reading your poem, it reminded me of FDR’s words...
“the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”

I wish this had been instilled in me when I was younger! So many events would have been much easier to deal with! C’est la vie! We have to deal with what is dealt to us!

        Enjoyed the read!

        ~Laura~
