the serpent

rydaddy_98

I lie next to the serpent  one more time
 our legs tangled together
hands holding mine
here he seems good

he seems endlessly wrapped around me
but then his eyes lose their warmth
                                                his voice loses its smile

                I am suddenly far away

But I am still wrapped up in him
                he coils tightly
as to not let me go
sometimes his grip loosens because he forgets that I am there
when I try to wriggle free
he then remembers and wraps me back in

I lie next to the serpent one more time
I tell him he needs to let go
but how can he let go when my grip
                                                                                is just as tight

Oh my word this is absolutely beautiful. Like I could read this over and over again. I love the way that visually your poem twists around, and it follows the meaning and the words. Like literally this is one of my favorite poems I've read on this site yet.
