Cattle Egrets
They flew toward their colony
Where they would find their perch
Many there in the trees
Where raptors sometimes searched
They remained there for the night
Then returned to the cattle place
They really were a lovely sight
With the cattle as they grazed
They lifted high into the sky
When they travelled long
They looked like a flock of geese
But had no honks as song
I saw them there against the sky
With some rain there approaching
The egrets there in the air
As the shower began its soaking
The summer showers always ended
And the egrets found their peace
Beside the cattle they softly landed
Putting all of them at ease
They accompanied the cattle for the day
And then flew home again
To their colony where they would stay
With neighbors surrounding them

A lovely write and pic w c.
Thanks, orchidee. I appreciate your comment.
Good write and picture, I have only seen egrets in captivity but we do have little egrets in the UK now and I have seen them in nature.
Thanks G. I'm just the opposite: I've seen plenty in nature but rarely, if ever, in captivity.
There're so sweet alongside your contribution of beautiful words. Nicely written.
Thanks, Kevin. I appreciate your comment.
Thank you W.C Well captured I've never seen one before
Thanks, Andrew. Egrets really are peaceful birds. it's quite a sight to see them alongside grazing cattle.
