Icarus (Powder Blue)

Syd

Icarus flying
Mesmerising
Putting on a fine show
Although he's a sufferer
Of vertigo

Sky so blue
Artificial glue
Holds the feathers tight
Against natural winds
Illusions of flight

Luck, like weather
Doesn't last forever
Soaring higher
Glue starts melting
Like fat In the fryer

Circling the highest summit
He suddenly starts to plummet
Residue of melting glue
Stains ertsaz wings
Powder blue

  • Tamara Beryl Latham - The Poet

Yes, Syd, the poem was quite enjoyable. The reader is able to feel every aspect of the journey you've outlined in your stanzas.

What's great is the image you included of Icarus, makes us clearly understand that false sense of security you mentioned.

    Thanks for posting. 🙂

A forceful warning on drug-use and the fall that precedes flights to more danger - - love the chosen image Syd as it lays stress on the poem's strong phrases on false security.
