One Day

sylviasearcher

When the devil asked me what I would sell
If I was prepared to spend my endless days in hell
For just one day spent next to you
I told her yes, that wish was true

She seemed to scorn as she smiled
'So tell me of it foolish child'
I said I would do more than speak
I'd paint a picture of what I seek

It would begin at the dawn of summer's solstice
A day when the hours would linger longest
I'd meet you beneath the clock of stones
Where else but beneath our playground's throne?

The worshipers would grant us space
To hide amidst their special place
Our eyes would span and reach and see
The vision that was meant to be

A vision of beauty strong and true
Always there for us to view
Pens and paper and a flask of tea
A day of lover's poetry

And on this day you'd take the lead
But then you always have, my every word begins your seed
And so at last renewed in light
Nevermore apart in anxious flight

And as I watched your eyes light up
I would know this was just enough
Enough for me to end my days
As the sun casts out her final rays

Knowing as you move in me
Mouthing each syllable. Slowly. Tenderly.
All these words, always yours
Open now forevermore

Hold me fast and tight and still
Feel my soul fulfil it's will
Watch me rise and fall in you
Do what only Spring can do

Hold me close until I pass
As sun sets and takes my breath. It's last.
Breathe me in as I fly away
Afterall we got one day

Well this would make Orchi's Fido start barking - quite enjoyed it myself too - a fine write.

    • sylviasearcher

      Thanks Michael.

Had not thought about if it was too swoony for Fido. It is only a kiss?

      • Michael Edwards

Ah but Fido is very sensitive.

Wow... That flowed amazingly of my screen so tenderly, what a wonderful day that would be.

        • sylviasearcher

Thanks Dan. I had a little help with this one so cannot take all the credit.

I guess days like that only exist in the imagination 😕

I am mightily impressed with the way the story both grows and flows throughout and of how you have meticulously constructed each stanza.. this is certainly one of my favourites of yours to date sylviasearcher and for what it might be worth, I am convinced that such days can become realities if one wishes hard enough..... I read this out and sent it to my Unrequited Soulmate.

He had helped me with a couple of lines.

It is pure fantasy. Days like this only happens in my head!

            • Neville

              I certainly enjoyed reading it

I'm glad my pain and longing can bring pleasure to the world.

I was actually feeling hopeful when I wrote this one.

                This is wicked awesome
Seamless in it's glow and flow

                Damn....just immaculate
