Armistice

The Retired Bloke

I tried to write about Armistice

But found I haven’t the vocabulary

To express the emotion felt by the nation

Much better scribes than me

Have described in incredible detail

How ordinary men fell

Defending the freedom of a nation

A nation with which I am incredibly proud

To be a descendant of those brave men

Who must never be forgotten

Nor lost their lives in vain

For peace and freedom

Must be

Everyone’s ultimate aim.
