Blackbird

Jabberwocky

Sing a song of penance
A picket full of "why"
Four and twenty lovers
All have said goodbye

I sit here in the corner
Not liking much my pie
Watching as my appetites
Wither up and die.

But maybe you have charity
And maybe I desire
And maybe still have dainty things
Not pulled from any fire.

Sing a song of openness
But sing it slightly higher
Raise your voice above
The milling murm'ring choir.
