A Taste of Nothing
Can you really not see
how much your
adoring public loves you
Can you not feel
the friction spark and heat
of each heart wrenched
and wretched review
All meant to warm you
Does it really taste of nothing
The scent and sense of their
Belonging
And so I watch you from
The sideline
Standing somewhere
just off centre
Watching my innocence decline
In fractions of a single degree
and mourning
each read request deleted

I don't know about this one, Neville.
Perhaps the subject is a poet, awaiting a review of his or her poem.
Do read requests pertain to emails? Not certain.
Anyway, nice attempt to confuse the public. 🙂
It seems my cigar, coconut & goldfish are all still safe, at least for the time being...
I believe there are many interpretations of this but the one that keeps on crossing my mind is the political one about the state of our country at the moment and this flaming brexit fiasco (I will not give it a capital letter). If this is anywhere near the truth I'll have a goldfish please.
Very intriguing write by the way.
I am glad you went for the goldfish sir.. she can be hard work at times and the other two prizes cheaper on the upkeep.. must say, not a bad guess either.. the goldfish is yours.. All Good Things, Neville
It reminded me of someone
I'm almost certain most people will know someone who fits the bill.. thank you tho sylviasearcher...
A silent lover/admirer, whose not even on the radar, feels the pain of their subject, and feels helpless to do anything
thank you for stopping by and checking out these words.... N
Seems like I was too far off the mark here, so no cigars, eh!
you can take the goldfish or the coconut ............... N
Falling the same way as the rest this unknown admirer can never get noticed by someone so used to being adored by the public - - feel sorry that those requests got deleted so soon -- she knew not what she was missing methinks......... are there after so long a time any goldfish left please for being even half-way near ..........x
... I shall just go whip one out of the freezer for ya .... fancy you finding this after so ;long our Fay :
.... Neville x
Twas my pleasure and more our Nev....... the Taste of Nothing is what drew me in ........ very good read........
Alright, you've got me. The conclusion should have enlightened me, but I remain baffled. I mean, I'm free to read to my heart's content, and do, leaving comments where I like, whence the ending leaves me confused. But no matter. I dearly love how deliciously you've rendered this pretty number with such imagery as gives its poignancy a leg to stand on, Napoleon couldn't have looked better. Thank you for sharing.
the fact you've bothered to trawl all the way back here means the world to little old me .. thank you Missy 😎💛👍
My pleasure. You're very welcome.
