ALTERATION.

Fay Slimm.

ALTERATION.

Now sinks light into hibernation and sky
becomes faded like
an old love affair
as unhappened mystical changes muster
for roll-call by spreading
moon's face into corners of dusk.

Now pervades alteration as dome dons look
of dirty crushed velvet,
ebony blots heaven's flame
pearl ink-drops bleed end to remains
of sunset and haze begins
drifting filigree murk over spent day.

Now waits time while mutation ignites
sun's crushed dying,
light retires leaving bruised
lines of goodbye on wounded azure
prior to night rule as crowned
and throned moon intends reigning.

A fine write Fay. That dark throne's moon has got about another month, then gradually lighter again!

yes Orchi - -the changes between sun's rise and fall I wanted to highlight in this poem and you saw the subject of that so clearly in your valued comment - thank you my friend.

Ah -- so kind of you to say my work succeeds in choice of subjects dear Michael - this verse almost wrote itself as I fancied the battle for thrones - thanks so much for your continued support my friend.

        • ANGELA & BRIAN

GOOD EVENING FAY : It's Tuesday morning here already. When I spoke to BRIAN (SKYPE) He promised Me this one for comment ! It is so so elegant : it recites like silk and I will use it (and acknowledge) at the next Poetry reading @ Church : OK. I adore Sunsets and the visual adds emphasis to the Poem !
V 1. Love the metaphor "Sky fading like an old Love Affair" YES !
V 2. Sunset for Me is always a Magical Time and the dome (of cloud ?) as the Sun defers to the Crescent Moon !
V 3. The alteration is complete as darkness descends as Sister Moon (dependent on Brother Sun for her reflected Glory) takes centre stage : AMEN
Thanks for caring : LOVE ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Feeling honoured that you will recite my verse at next Poetry reading dear Angela and I agree that a good visual aids the words -- nature is awesome in so many ways that we poets are never stuck for a subject - - - wishing you every success along with my thanks when you revisit the scene my pen described after viewing firsthand the alteration when sun has to yield his light throne to the paler rise of darkling moon.

here it seems you have managed to capture those fleeting shifts of light and shade and all the many hues that occur at the handover from night to day and vice versa .. those that when seen shall never be forgot..... despite the fact that each is so remarkably different...... Neville

            • Fay Slimm.

Breathtakingly different those altering hues - - standing and watching a sunset with someone special - -well what could be better'n that ? - - well we can dream eh ............... thanks so much for your warming review Nev. - so complimentary that it makes me blush deeper than sunset....................Fay x
