Come Close To Me

kevin browne

Come close to me, my love. we'll rest our weary heads
Down by the riverside, we'll sleep and make up our beds.
We'll laugh with daffodils until all the days turned flowery
We'll fall in love and we'll paint pictures just like Lowry.

It'll be silence in the skies when Pythagoras said its sound
Underneath the Moon of love where the darkest was found.
They'll set sail the seven seas of thunderbolt and lightening
Across the deep lost blue where it all got too frightening

They said the North and South was just a hopeless confliction
They'll go to the speed of light just to miss the Moons direction.
Whilst pianos played for centuries long it took a while to catch
Parrots play sunken pirate ships, but who blew the bloody hatch.

On sunnyside up the beach, they said they'll sing a chirpy song
We'll watch Columbus high upon all those rights drinking rum.
We'll land together on the lands that had never been seen before
We'll take off a bolt from the blue with 20.000 leagues or more.

And they'll be happy sorry people where time begins to fade
But, sweet jelly pickled women seem to kill the kill they shade.
Out of time is out of place if you're not stood anywhere near
By the time it's over the over time it will make you say it clear.

Bring Martin Luther King for the injections of infected races
They said they'll find it somewhere over there in most cases.
And, rainbows point the heat towards the gold that never was
Someone said they landed on a star but who took it as a fuss.

Declarations over civil rights they said, I hold my bloody hat
Sing a song for me, and I'll make sure it gets to postman pat.
Gingerbread, yeah gingerbread what we gonna do about it
Angels singing fairy-tale stories flames the flames that bite.

Who said, Greta Garbo, is dead even before the war began
Where missiles that were led astray away from the men who ran
They said Rock n roll was breed on a dime and somethings
And, when the war was won it was the matter of all our things.

Underhead, overheads they say they'll say we're all the same
I guess if it's true they said they'll take all the bloody blame.
But, let's hitch a ride together up over to the Hollywood Hills
Another drunken sailor next door to the man that took her pills.
