Indigo Bird

Indigo Bird

The bluest that I’ve ever seen

Was on a little road

Where flying up to a tree

His colors really showed

Slowly driving by

He was as if the sky

With his catch in his beak

A little dragon fly

On the boughs of the tree

He searched the spot known good

Waiting some and there at ease

On sunny afternoons

He went on and on

Flying up and down

Searching always carefully

For the meals he found

The bird watchers there with me

All agreed it was true

No other prettier bird could be

In the neighborhood

And when the evening came

He chose a nightly perch

Waiting for the light of day

When again he could search

Thanks, Neville. The first I really knew this bird was in an ornithology course in college. It (the Indigo bunting) was so beautiful, I'll never forget it.
