Glad To Be Sober
What about a beer he said
And I politely declined
I’m on the water wagon I said
And no longer do I imbibe
Having just one is not so bad
He then said to me
And I replied as I had
That drinking left me beat
No longer do I drink all night
With others and get drunk
I no longer drink beer or wine
On the sea of booze I’ve sunk
I no longer worry of going to jail
And I drive well when sober
And my passengers think I’m well
As I no longer get pulled over
I now awake feeling grand
And glad to be alive
With no pile of aluminum cans
In a pyramid when I rise
No bloodshot eyes or pounding head
Can keep me from my day
And today I don’t look dead
But happily I pray
I am clean and sober these days
And better than I was
And many friends I have made
And they are now my buzz
My higher power is with me now
And helps me really live
And comforts me and does care
And my life to Him I give

You are winning your battle, the words 'My higher power' gave it away.
May sobriety be with you forever.
A battle it has been, but with Him, i've enjoyed peaceful days.
A fine write w c.
