The Dark Waltz

Joanna Garrido

I love the Dark Waltz - deliciously midnight

The Phantom, the opera, the dark lair

The gothic, the mystery, the moonlight

The ethereal spirit of night air

I love the sensual, the star crossed young lovers

The tragic, the dreamer, the doomed

Shakespeare, Lord Byron and Sylvia Plath

Great poets that I have consumed

I love Tchaikovsky, Odette and Odile

Carmen by Bizet, Miss Saigon, Les Mis

The music, the poetry that make my heart feel

Nothing inspires such as this

Spinning me round to the beautiful sound

of the Dark Waltz into the abyss.

Good Dark filled write, dancing in the dark can be wonderful.

(cannot get the YouTube video to play - intrigued as to what the music is)

I wonder if I edit the poem I can get the you tube on. I’m not used to doing

      • Goldfinch60

Yes if you edit the poem you can redo the YouTube video.

I can’t get the you tube to open properly on here just says error. Frustrating. Never mind

I have sort of managed it. If you go to left hand corner of the video page you can open. It’s the Dark Waltz music sung by Hayley Westenra

Intriguing write. Your content and rhyme scheme make this enjoyable to read and easy to relate to, well as far as I am concerned.

Have edited and put the you tube Dark Waltz Hayley Westenra. Didn’t seem to work but if you click left hand corner it brings up and it is first selection
