Not a love song

sylviasearcher

These words are not a love song

They won’t linger on your lips

These lines have no home to go to

They won’t end with love’s true kiss

Swirling in the empty spaces of my head

All the dreams and hopes written, never said

I try to light them up in prose

An endless line of candles noone chose

These words are not a love song

They are more a sad lament

For dreams that were not meant for me

For lovenotes left. Unread. Unsent.

Pacing in the haunted graveyard of my soul

A million imagined magical moments missed

Lost in time amidst my fallen rhymes

The pallor of a cheek, scarred but never kissed

These words are not a love song

Love was not meant for me

Perhaps love does not exist at all

Beyond the illusion of this poetry?
