My Life

The Retired Bloke

I’m full of angst with society

Struggling with my sobriety

Needing to fit in

What does this really mean

Does this mean

Being normal

Ok could I be abnormal

Try to fade into the distance

Show little resistance

To a world of nonsense

Of little consequence

No I must stand out

Shout out

For what is right

Take this human plight

Embrace it, love it

Show the world how much

Love I bestow, I shower it

This is my life

I own it!

  • Comment from author about the poem: We went out for dinner with friends and had a little too much wine. Apparently I wrote this poem before going to bed...clearly under the influence...I don’t remembeer too much about writing it. Thank goodness I start my marathon training tomorrow!
