Lord, I come to you, I have none between

Me and you, no other Advocate seen

Except for Jesus Christ, your only Son

He ever lives, the all-atoning one

My great high priest, presenting God to man

And man to God, as only He true can

 

There but for the grace of God do I go

I lost without you, if I you not know

But you have known me first, and me have loved

And in your mercy me to you encoved* (*New Covenant)

O help me, help us all, evangelise

That all know you, and press to the high prize

 

Not to forget your Spirit in our hearts

Our central essence, and too fill all parts

Help us to give ourselves in service, so

We and others in you shall surely grow

Your children shall be, sons and daughters fair

In blessings of eternal life may share

 

And too our minds renewed, and we transformed

More into your image, by your love warmed

Showing, sharing your gospel as we can

Unto each person, each child, woman, man

That they your salvation will sure receive

As on the name of your Son they believe

 

Your promise not to leave us, nor depart

To be with us to the end, as at start

Help us seek your will and your kingdom first

To meet the needs of man's spiritual thirst

Water of life, bread of life, 'tis yourself

In you shall each find their complete soul's health

          Thanks Neville. Sometimes the phrase pops up even in telly programmes (apart from Songs of Praise too!). Yep, I shall give myself 10/10 if I may. Or else eat humble pie for showing off! It's them syllables ya know. lol.
