The PERIODIC TABLE of Natural Elements was
thought out my MENDELEEV in 1869 ~ 150 years
ago. He arranged the 60 then known elements ~
in ascending order of their Atomic Weights ~ into
vertical Families (Elements with similar Chemical
properties) into a Periodic Table. He succeeded ~
where others had failed ~ because he left gaps
for new Elements which he predicted would be
discovered. He was a Genius and even predicted
some of their Chemical & Physical Properties !
One of them was RADIUM he called eka-BARIUM.
He turned up on the CURIE'S doorstep to thank
them for discovering (isolating) it ! The History
of Science is an awesome Subject filled with very
fascinating & eccentric Characters. There are now
an additional 26 synthetic elements (93 to 118)
which are mentioned in the Video. One of them is
named MENDELEVIUM & another CURIUM ! You
will have to enlarge the NEW PERIODIC TABLE

A truly inspiring read and so well researched - -- those elements which have sustained vital necessities on the earth are precious indeed. Thank you for the reminder Brian and for things newly learned by un-scientific readers like me.
THANK YOU FAY ~ for an encouraging reply ! Science & Technolgy may help us to survive a few more years (I'll be 90 in 2073) so I have a vested interest in the future ! However this Generation is being very profligate with the Environment and Earths limited resources ~ even those with Grandchildren & Greatgrandchildren ~ which surprises me ! Children under 10 will still (God Willing) be alive in 2100. This date (80 Years ahead) is regarded as a "Point of no return" by many Environmental Scientists !

YES INDEED UNCLE STEVE ~ The 1930\\\'s (squarus minimus) version used to hang imperiously on every Chem Lab wall ! The one I posted was only released (from captivity !) this Month ! It is intended to show realative abundance exponentially ! There are Round and Spiral ones and even 3D ones ~ one based on Rubiks Cube ! Der Periodische Tisch Uber Alles ! Periodic Love & Blessings

I had to learn this more than 50 years ago, I started my chemistry career in 1965, you know when alchemy was to the fore.
Thanks UNCLE ANDY my interest is in the Structure and Physiological activity of Natural Organic Compounds (NOC[s). As far as I can judge historically NMR Spectroscpy and Mass Spectroscopy greatly faciliatated and accelarated the elucidation of the Structure of NOC's also their BIOSYNTHESIS using precursors labelled with C14. I started to study A-level Cenmistry in 1999. The 1960's must have been an interesting deade to start. Yours as ever BRIAN.
