Homeless In Roanoke

w c

Homeless In Roanoke

All the things she has

Are in her shopping buggy

And she pushes it in weather bad

To places dry but ugly

Her clothes are always dirty

And worn weeks on end

But she does not seem to worry

For a place to bathe again

She has a little place

Where she spends her time

And she goes there everyday

To relax and drink her wine

At a shelter she has lunch

And afterward watches TV

And more homeless come in bunches

To warm themselves and be

And then comes the dawn

With a grand breakfast served

And she takes food before it’s gone

And keeps it in her purse

And if she’s well again

Her buggy she’ll set aside

With a house for her things

And a car in her drive

A good write w c.It's a gloomy life-style to be in surely. Thankfully some collection boxes in supermarkets in town seem to often be fairly full with donations. Some from me too - me good deed for the day?! Well, some days anyway.

My heart goes out to the homeless. I donate to them sometimes, but i am suspicious that they will spend it on booze. As a recovering alcoholic, i know how powerful alcohol can be.

Thanks w c. Yes, and we don't know how many of them are genuinely homeless, or if they are just begging off us to con us.

I know that most of us have the wrong mental picture of homeless folk. I don't, I was homeless for a short time as a teenager.
A day in the life of one homeless soul depicted here is beautiful. It brings forward her humanity, acceptance, and frailty. And a tear to my eye.

Thank you, da! I too was once homeless. It really is a day to day existence. I thank God for those who helped me find my way out.

It is so often that we see these people these days and it just should not be.

It really is a shame that our society can overlook those in need. i guess we should be thankful for the resources we have available. I don't know what i would have done without the shelters!
