Abandonment.
Such a thing of beauty is a shell,
floating it croons, abode empty,
sculpted plate of vital protection
intriguingly patterned, expressly
designed, change has undressed
your mollusc-berthed residence.
Oh opaline coat, bejewelly vest
your sea-bed wholeness ended
now roof tumbles at measured
pace in ocean breakers' restless
dance with fate's abandonment.

Good write Fay.
Like tiny castles...... little memorials to the creatures that made them. Lovely words Fay.
Oh my, what a wonderful conjunction of words "tumbles at measured pace in ocean breakers' restless dance with fate's abandonment".
In sober moments on the beach i shall reflect upon those words.
the perfect title and so befitting of a perfectly penned poem... I close my eyes & can hear the sea.... x
' restless dance with fate's abandonment', wow truly beautiful.
Wonderful write once more Fay.
Thanks FAY & Thanks MOLLUSCS for shedding your Shells on the sea shore ! Scuptured Residenses for us to enjoy as ornaments ; lamps : jewellery : love tokens etc ! We have some fabulous sea shells in New Zealand ! I always marvel how so many delicate shells : despite the tempest : can survive intact & perfect & valuable ! On each new N Z beach I am always a shell seaker !
