Full Moon

daydreaming

When you shed light across the waters
On this beautiful summer night
I clearly see the waves roll slowly
Then crash against the shore
I hear the rumbling of the wind
Imposing his presence on you.

You then get closer and closer
I see you embrace one another
And as you dance the night away
The bursts of light that hit the waves
Expose a path of silver steps
That will lead me to you.

When you show me the way
To this forbidden place
I must simply recognize
That I am not worthy
Of your splendor and perfection.

I don't fool myself by thinking
That you'll ever forgive me
For the things I do
The things I've done
The things I just may do
Or even for one instant
Be allowed to get closer to you.

But if those whom I love
And are no longer here
Can speak for me
And whisper in your ear
They'll convince you to believe
That my ignorance does not define me
And my acts were well intended
And that ultimately my fate
Is in my hands and no one else's.

While I struggle in this world
As a slave of space and time
Drowned in my own memories
Disappointments and failures
Alone without true love
Or even the desire to be happy
I still wonder how I became
The person that I am
The person I was
Or the man I must be
To deserve redemption?

So Full Moon...
Wash me with your splendor
Bless me with your spectrum
As you look down at me
And I look up at you
That loving desire
To get to know one another
Gives me a glimpse of hope
That you'll show me the way
To find purpose, love
Passion and compassion.

And before my story ends
I hope that I can say
That I truly deserve
The beautiful path, the serenity
And the everlasting Peace
That you once showed me.
