There they were on the dance floor,

Women with men,

Women with women,

Men with men.

All enjoying their dancing,

So free from troubled lives.

They were all people

Of one accord,

Who came together,

Came together,

To dance,

To dance the Tango.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was watching a programme called "The Real Marigold on Tour" last night and there are four 'oldies' in Buenos Aires. They went to a bar where the tango was danced by all. I never knew that the tango in its original form was for men. In this bar all were dancing with all and enjoyment abounded. Then Wayne Sleep, one of the oldies said "I have never seen anything like this, all peoples with one accord have come together to tango".

    Look at them handbags..... "are ya dancin"... "are y'askin" .... "I'm askin"... "i'm dancin"
    Your version sounds far more relaxed and free than what we grew up with.

      Yes I can remember the handbags in the middle of the dance floor, the girls dancing and the blokes around the side looking.

            Thanks Brian, it was a good show and the Tango scene showed the coming together of people no matter who they were - that was wonderful.

            On the dance floor, all the worries fade away. Tango - partnership of two souls, intense fluid movement, is what I picturise.

              Dancing is good for the soul and to watch interchange of partners who tango together must be uplifting - I missed the prog. but am pleased to know how the tango is revered and danced over there
