THE STRANGER ON THE SHORE !
I LOVE THE SEA ~ and have mainly lived
On the COAST ~ East & West ! I love to stroll
Along the BEACH at Dawn & at Twilight.
Often Im alone and it is very .......
Therapeutic to listen to the roll
of the waves and the scrunch of the Shingle !
One day ~ ten years ago ~ in the Evening
At Yarmouth I saw a Young Lady in .......
A Long White Dress ~ A Stranger on the Shore !
She looked wistful & ephemeral as ........
She gazed out to Sea. When I spoke to her
She said "I am waiting for my Husband"
I continued to walk on and as I
Looked back there was a huge wave drenching her
And out of the Sea a Young Man seemed to
Appear ~ took her arm and they disappeared
into the Sunset ! I was quite shaken
And recounted ~ in the Hotel ~ what I had seen.
Ahhhh the Receptionist said ~ you saw Pearl
Her Husband drowned ~ On their Honeymoon last Year !
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN 🧡🧡🧡
This poem is presented as a Blank Verse 6 6 6 2 DODECET
in iambic pentameter ~ 10 syllables per line ~ OK
The story the Receptionist told me really made me cry
and I will remember it until the day I die ~ especially
because of what I saw. Pearl & Her Husband JAMES
arrived late after their Wedding ~ they were tired and
spent most of the next day in Bed with Room Service.
In the evening they went down to the Beach were
James decided he wanted a swim. According to Pearl
he swam out of sight and never returned ~ His Body
was never found ! Pearl was heart broken and refused
to leave the shore ~ every evening calling out to James
I LOVE YOU ~ PLEASE PLEASE COME BACK HOME TO ME !
She didnt eat or drink and after three weeks they found
Her dead of a broken heart lying in the surf ~ RIP PEARL !
Many guests have reported seeing her Crying on the Shore !

A sensitive write A&B. I'm gonna croon the song - bit old, from 1961! I duet with Andy Williams, who also sang it. Ohh, we do 'Moon River' too - sensible songs. No rubbish 'ere!

Oh what a tragic happening and the tale you weave round it catches the breath - - a heart-tugging read Brian - -I love that number you chose to adorn the words too.
Thanks FAY ~ It came to me in the night ~ so I wrote it down @ 3 pm and posted it this morning ! I have added what the Receptionist told me ~ you might like to read !

BUENAS DIAS BRIAN : OSO GRANDE MIO. Loved the Video (very melacholy) and the Picture : but I found the Poem very sad and Im still crying ! I guess Pearl just wanted to die and be with James in Paradise for eternity ! Ive made a resolution that when we go to SPAIN on our Honeymoon (Easter 2020 !) you can swim in the POOL but NOT the SEA ! Mama Angela Rules ~ OK !
Take care when Im not with you : no extreme sports : and no more bungee jumping for me ! Enjoy the Summer weather while it lasts same here : 21 C = 70 F
Muchos Abrazos y Besos y Todo de Mi Amor
ANGELA : SIEMPRE tu ANGEL 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
HOLA ANGEL ~ Sorry if my Poem upset you ! Others have also found it melancholoy ! It is a good thing if it makes us both take fewer risks ~ I only Bungee Jumped ONCE (never again) and Sea swimming is always a risk ! The story is very very sad but I know our Honeymoon will be SAFE & SPICEY in Sevilla. I must be careful not to drink too much Rioja (Brewers Dr**p !). It will be March on FRIDAY so only three weeks before we are together again for our South Island Paradise ~ AMEN.
Abrazos y Besos en abundancia y siempre
Todo de Mi Amor tambien !
Tu Oso Grande y Amorado ~
BRIAN ! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
