Tune: St Hilda

('O happy band of pilgrims')

2 Chronicles 15 v.1-7

*******

The Spirit of God came on

Azariah the son

Of Oded, he prophesied

King Asa did confide (in Azariah)

He said, Hear me, King Asa

And Judah, I assure

The LORD is with you, while you

Be with Him, it is true

And if you unto Him seek

E'en though you mortal, weak

Yet He will be found of you

And will help you anew

But if you do Him forsake

He will not then you take

Now for long time it has been

Israel without God seen

Nor teaching priest, not the law

You have not followed sure

But when in troubles they turned

To the LORD, they [were] concerned

Returning to Him, they sought

Him in their days, through fraught

And He was then of them found

Praises to Him [did] resound

In those times there was no peace

Vexations did not cease

And turmoils were upon all

They tempted were to fall

Nation destroyed of nation

Was no joy, elation

For God did vex them surely

With all adversity

But be strong now, and let not

hands be weak, this your lot

It be that your work shall be

Rewarded by God, see
