Escape

Jeffrey Roy

I go to the countryside to escape the city

From busy streets and droves of people

To step back in time if only to dream

I long for yesterday yet simple and kind

For peace and tranquility to soothe my mind

Flowing hills and streams seem endless in time

The air clean for not yet pollutant ridden

The alluring beauty where asphalts forbidden

My senses yearn to take me there often

Nevertheless daily grind holds me in Joplin

I worked in cities all my life but retired now I live in a sleepy English village in the middle of lush green rolling countryside so this super write resonates with me. Thanks for posting it.
