"Who are you?" said her,
In a voice soft and frail.
"Death of the light incarnate!" it bellowed,
Echoing an empowered wail.
She looked upon what most would shun,
Curiosity had afflicted delight.
In dread's cold stare she did not flee,
And instead embraced her fright.
The girl approached such a horrid thing,
To sweetly caress a horn.
That burned in fiery rage,
And the lament of a morbid scorn.
Her hands were never charred,
Eyes they did not wince.
The girl who would tame a demon,
Through reliance had been convinced.

- Comment from author about the poem: Hello friends! Another little write for you all. If you enjoyed, then I am glad. The song that goes with this is just a song I like. Doesn't have much to do with the poem, or does it? Who knows? See you!

Nicholas,
An intriguing write!
Love the song! I think it can have a lot to do with your fine poem!
~Laura~
Thanks much, Laura. Glad you liked them both!
You’re welcome!
A fine write Nicholas. 'He/She who sups with the devil should use a long spoon', said by someone or other in late 14th Century, I read. Maybe said by me. I'm millions of years old, so I could have said it back then. lol.
Well thanks Steve. I appreciate your saying so.
Who knows, maybe you really did? Be pretty cool right?
Well, aww, why they call me 'fossil'.? Hey, a bird fossil of 110 million years old has been discovered. Yep, I fed that bird in me garden back then. Was you around too? lol. I'm not into spooky reincarnation though.
Brilliant. Whenever we approach the unknown and overcome our fright we learn and move forward.
Very true, Finch. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words.
There are many such women out there, treat them lightly.. and hold your forearm higher...a shield tis most finely not...
Embracing your fright is the way to dispense with demons - good thought Nick - loved the number too.
Thank you very much for the visit, Fay! And as well for your kind words.
This poem is beautiful, such a lovely poem. Really enjoyed reading it, made my imagination run a bit wild.
