summer lies

Jon Nakapalau

are so pretty

that was what I was thinking
as those dream days went by

and you told me there was so much time
and that you wanted to spend it with me

but looking back
the clouds were tinged

with a tearing to come
and bright afternoons

seemed to fade so fast
I should have known

that it was all a lie
that whisper echoed

that I told myself.
