A Promise

SheWasTheSun

It's time to make a promise

To everyone I know

To you, to me

I'm really letting go

I'll cry, I'll scream

I'll starve and I'll lose sleep

I'll lock myself alone

This pain is mine to keep

I'll grieve and I'll wallow

And feel every ounce of hurt

I'll open all the wounds you left

And let the memories lurk

I know now, I'm strong enough

To look you in the eye

Day after day, time after time

And still stand by my goodbye

After all this mess, I've learned

Too much to write in words

But the most important thing

I'll promise, and let it be heard

Leaving you is the second worst thing

I can possibly think to do

The first, absolute hardest thing

Is losing me, in you
