Escape

Jeffrey Roy

I go to the countryside to escape the city,

From busy streets and droves of people.

To step back in time if only to dream,

I long for yesterday yet simple and kind.

For peace and tranquility to soothe my mind,

Flowing hills and streams seem endless in time.

The air clean for not yet pollutant ridden,

The alluring beauty where asphalts forbidden.

My senses yearn to take me there often,

Nevertheless daily grind holds me in Joplin.

It's all good. It's worth a second read.
I read most poems more than once anyways!

Yes I wish for that life Jeffrey, I see it sometimes but not as often as I wish.
