ILL-SENT

Fay Slimm.

Ill-Sent.

Granite protection tries its stone-utmost
to stave away land-slides along our coast.

Take an ocean of rimless diversity
where scrolls of dread power build reign
of gale-threat to explode with ill sent fury.

Take the intent of human endeavour
to stay the wet moves of saline invasion
storm-bent on retaining unfettered misrule.

Try to imagine strain's weary shoulders
defiant with bulge of work-hardened veins
attempting to re-bolster, thus divert disaster.

Try to conceive how when tragedy's brink
floats nearer and fields sink mud-locked
in watery vortex hopes for deliverance crash.

Unhookably fierce the teeth of sea-storms
that brook no relief until wind speed alters.

You know them more than some of us, being near the coast. A fine write Fay.

Thank you Orchi and yes the sea can be merciless.

Yes indeed another fine write about a terrible problem.

      • Fay Slimm.

A daunting problem and one that is growing - thanks Michael.

Pon my very word, how these words do ring true... Only the other day a massive landslide showered and crushed where I had walked only a few days before, below the cliffs of West Bay... You capture not only the might of the wind and storm and waves, but the devastation that these may leave in their wake....... Neville

Do take care my friend - landslides at water's edge are no respecter of persons or property - - a terrible problem on coasts which have no granite support. thank you for your perceptive in-put..................... Fay x..

The Brothers, Wind and Water, are in the news everyday, and not in a good way.

            Yes, a fine write indeed

            • Fay Slimm.

No -not in a good way are we hearing of wind and water as they wreak havoc on coastlines.

I get the feeling that you have in mind a family or person who has been affected by this land loss. Indeed, huge financial loss, of life changing proportion too.
Amire the way you use words which convey the relentless power of the seas.

              • Fay Slimm.

Landslides are happening even where granite is bedrock on certain stretches of coastline here but nowhere the amount of tragic loss than softer foundations on the Jurassic side of our island. I know people living there and the situation is dire.
