Tune & Hymn: 'Ah Lord God!'

Jeremiah 32 v.17-19

*********

Ah Lord God! The heavens you have made

By your word they all are sure staid

Ah Lord God! The heavens you have made

And all your creation arrayed

Chorus

Nothing is too difficult for you

Nothing is too difficult for you

Holy God and only true

Your plans and will you e'er pursue

Nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing

Nothing is too difficult for you

All is made as by your great power

It ceases not for one hour

All is made as by your great power

Your blessings on us you shower - Chorus

Great in counsel, mighty in deed

Yet we your sheep, you do us feed

Great in counsel, mighty in deed

Providing for us all we need - Chorus

  • Comment from author about the poem: A more modern hymn-poem - well, last Century anyway (after about 1960)! Not really in a metre, but fits to Verses: 9.8.9.8. Chorus: 9.9.6.8.10.9. Tried my hand at this 'irregular metre' - tricky in places.

this is lovely but maybe should have a change of title... I suggest 'Lovely Rita Meter Maid'....

actually, I can see how difficult this must have been..... N

Thanks Neville. I was not too bad until I got to the Chorus, with 10.6.8.9. whatever. I don't usually delve into 'Irregular Metres' or 'Peculiar Metres' as they may be called.... cos they are highly irregular! And who is peculiar?! But we only gotta do the Chorus once, so hey-ho!

I am not too keen on choruses in general, so that was something of a relief..... N
