Lord, bless the oils of anointing
That they peace, comfort bring
As channels of your Spirit pure
May they bring healing sure
Oils as symbol of your Spirit
Flow, be outpoured each whit
To meet the depths of human need
Each from their sins be freed
God the Father He did anoint
His Son, and did appoint
Him with the Spirit, He did go
The power of God did show
He did do good and went about
Bringing healing no doubt
To those by the devil oppressed
They were set free and blessed
Work how you will, heal, sanctify
The healing oils apply
'Tis all by your grace, mercy, love
Your Spirit, holy dove

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. I read of this 'Blessing of the Oils' service, held in some churches on Maundy Thursday. The oil is as a channel, a symbol, nothing magical or spooky.

Ahhhhhhhhh UNCLE STEVE : The Blessed Name of JESUS : so so Precious to each Believer. A great congregational Hymn sung in all denominations : Love it. Love the POEM !
Oils are a very interesting Study in the SCRIPTURES. In the Church I attend in the UK : If people come forward for Healing the PASTOR does annoint them with OIL and then lays hands on them and Prays for Healing. He also does that when He visits the Housebound. I am a Masseuse and I pratice AROMATHERAPY. Clients are massged with a base oil (usually ROSE OIL) with a few drops of an essential OIL (such as GERANIOL) added ! I have HEALING HANDS and as I massage I pray silently that GOD will relieve their PAIN & increase their mobility and HE does. Being a PHYSIOTHERAPIST is a wonderful JOB for a Christian : AMEN

I have known vapours of eucalyptus oil, I think it is - bit like overwhelming Vicks! I might need it, and Horlicks at my age! Orchi's very ancient. lol.
