Our Scars

SerenWise

You ache from it,

The burden of the past

Feels leaden -

A jagged rock, it was all

Splinters and sharp edges

At the time it occurred,

Worn smooth over time

But still pressing and sore...

Realization, though relieving,

Makes it hurt all the more.

Understanding and peace

Will come with acceptance

That it is only yours -

So own it, carve it,

Sculpt it and use it.

Remember that it makes you,

It creates and shapes you,

Into someone better, someone new.

The pain is there to remind you

That despite all this, you're still alive,

Your scars are there to show you

That you've healed, and you've survived.

A wonderful verse of inspiration for moving forward scars and all. Thanks for sharing the best way to survive life's burdens my friend.

So very true. Encompassing this struggle and perhaps what is to follow, i wrote tip-toeing, please have a peep.
The scars you mention are rarely visible from the outside unless one is so disturbed that they just live those scars and nothing else. Most of us disguise them and they only surface when certain situations bring out the learning journey we have trodden. Not easy, but hopefully we are able to act upon the wisdom gained.

Our lIves do scar us but those scars give us the experience to survive.
