Once more I stand in front of it,
In front of that picture.
It’s only two girls,
Two girls and a Dove
But its wonder is a delight,
A delight to my eyes,
A delight to my heart.
The Dove has returned,
Showing all is well,
All is well in the world.
The artist has captured it,
Captured it in fine detail.
That detail speaks to me,
Shows me that in spite of any doubts
The world can be so wonderful,
As this artwork show to me.

- Comment from author about the poem: I went back to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford yesterday. There was an exhibition by Jeff Koons which was very good and if I get the chance I will go again. As ever though I spent my time in the Pre-Raphaelite gallery where several pictures pull at me, this is one of them, I have written about it before but I wrote this one yesterday standing in front of the art work. The picture on here just does not do it justice.

Thank you Laura. In the Ashmolean Museum this painting "The Return of the Dove to the Ark by John Everett Millais and my favourite " A Converted British Family Sheltering A Christian Priest From The Persecution Of The Druids" by William Holman Hunt hang next to each other and I have spent hours in front of both of them. Photgraphs just do not do them justice.
There are many beautiful things to behold all around us which are refreshing to our soul and all the moving when they are a contrast to our everyday.
So very true d a. All we need to do is to see of hear.
Beautiful painting indeed, both in subject and detail - one can almost count the number of straws on the floor, and the poem it invoked and captured by your words.
I was standing in front of this painting a few months ago and another man was looking at it as well and his comment was that the straw was almost like a photograph. Thank you for your kind words Suresh.
