The Hawthorn

SerenWise

How do I express the ways that I love thee?

Like this, beneath this hawthorn tree?

When the sap is rising, and dusk is falling,

In the violet light, with the nightjar calling.

With flickering firelight on all your features,

We make this love like forest creatures;

You are the wolf and I am your prey,

Our hunt begins in this month of May.

We've stoked the flames and leapt the fire,

And tossed our woes upon the pyre,

My devotion to thee knows no bounds,

As we lie, entwined, upon the ground.

The boughs above us shift and sway,

Blossoming white on this feast day;

When the horned God takes his Goddess lover

In the same way that we take each other.

And our vows suffuse the soundless air,

Like the hawthorn petals in my hair.

  • ANGELA & BRIAN

    Thanks SEREN for reminding ME of the Natureness of Uninhibited Love such as Brian & I shared on our Magical Mystery Tour of South Island N Z. Intimate Love is so so natural & satisfying & beautiful and I will sure miss it now that MY BIG BEAR has gone back to the UK for six months leaving me *A Stranger on the Shore* in New Zealand ! Still it will have been a very rewarding 15 Months and (almost) worth the parting. Fortunately we are both very busy and fulfilled @ WORK & in our Leisure activities : AMEN ! In apositive way the expressiveness of your Beautiful Love Poem reflected the Experiential Love we shared on our Magical South Island Tour (check tomorrows POEM) and the memory turned my SADDNESS (because Brian has flown back to the UK today) to Memories of Lasting Love & Joy !

    Thanks for sharing & caring !
    Blessings & much Love
    Yours as always : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
