You promised me that you would come home
SO many nights I sit here alone
Until the day they knocked on the door
My legs gave out, I hit the floor
You promised me that you would come home
Now I will raise our child alone
My heart is broken beyond repair
I sit alone, look out the window and stare
I visit your grave everyday
Sit in silence, close my eyes and pray
A peaceful calm, relieves my tears
Your my angel now, you'll protect my fears
I lay a rose upon your grave
Another year without you, your love I crave
Everyday I try so hard to be brave.
I look at your picture, you said you would come home.

HI TERESA ~ We've missed you ! Thanks for sharing this Poem. Good structure ~ six rhymng doublets ~ then a triplet and a final very sad line. *I look at your picture ~ you said you would come home*. The scanning is good and it does flow ! The subject is very sad (killed on Active Service) ~ Millions (mainly Men) were killed in WW2 ~ leaving a Generation of Single Mothers and Fatherless Children. That is the reality of a Global War ~ please pray to GOD that we will never experience another one ! Please check our site !
Blessings & Peace & Joy
Yours ~ BRIAN & ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you Brian for your kind words
Those days can be so hard when we lose someone but rest assured they will be looking down on you and will always be with you.
thank you
