Satisfaction in Life.

Goldfinch60

It was so difficult,

I have done them before,

But this one took twice as long.

All are complicated,

All are intriguing to do.

This one was different,

I was still intrigued,

But struggled all the time.

And then that time came

When I put the last piece in,

The last piece in the jigsaw.

The sense of achievement overwhelmed me,

So hard to complete,

But so very satisfying when done.

I was so pleased,

So proud,

The jigsaw was now part of me,

It was in my mind,

In my heart,

In my soul.

Satisfaction was mine to behold,

Satisfaction in life.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I do jigsaws and have recently been doing Wentworth Wooden Jigsaws, they are very complicated but so intriguing to do but this one nearly had me beaten, it took me twice as long as the other ones I have done.

              I enjoy doing puzzles too
Some can really tax me too

              Life events are puzzles too
Adjust the right pieces in the right places at the right time

A nice write about a relaxing activity

              • Goldfinch60

Life's events are the biggest puzzles to solve and now in my twilight years I think I have solved most of them.

You have developed a pastime which requires a great deal of patience and determination, Have you ever thrown one at the wall in frustration?
The last one i did involved a lot of tree which was taxing to say the least. An old boss of mine liked to impress his junior staff by boasting that he liked his family to give him jigsaw puzzles in a polythene bag and no picture or no picture and all the edge/corner pieces removed. I don't really believe it though.

Thank you d a, no I have never thrown one against a wall yet, this one got close though.

Working in computing I saw one of my colleagues throw his computer against a wall, we distinguished it as hardware rather than software, in which we were working, by the noise it made as it struck the wall.

I know what satisfaction a completed puzzle can bring - - a lovely read which connects contentment to life itself - Thank you for that lovely thought Goldy.

                  • Goldfinch60

Thank you Fay, there is a great deal of satisfaction when that last piece goes in.
