Silence shuts up
Understanding dies
Interest is forbidden
Culture truth denies
Initiated by fear
Discomfort recognise
Ended
Pause and take a moment
Reach and simply ask
Enquire without judgment
Value what seems too vast
Engender your listening ear
Never lose sight of hope
Take a risk and use the word
It may be the last sentence spoke
Out loud. ‘Are you thinking about suicide?’
Now was it so hard to ask to help someone stay alive?

- Comment from author about the poem: It’s more about the message than the poetry Asking someone if there having Suisse thoughts does not make them more likely to complete suicide. Not asking does #mentalhealthawareness

A touching video and a vital reminder. Such wise advice to see and speak before it gets too late. Thank you for this honest write Sylvia.
People are so afraid about talking about it.
Silence kills.
And it is mental health awareness week so I felt compelled to share something.
A most important message, both well said and timely.....
Neville
Thanks
I just feel it is one taboo that we should not allow to be kept quiet
I wholeheartedly agree & it is certainly a subject very close to my own personal and professional heart

Fear of fear and judgement worse than death crazy but true
A Great write S well done and well done for raising the subject
That’s all I was trying to do
Not judge, not pretend I know right and wrong.
Just raise awareness
Thanks
The one thing that I have always had in my life is that I listen to people and people do come to me just to talk knowing that I WILL listen and not just hear them. I have found that on the majority of occasions when people talk to somebody who listens (cares) as they talk the remedy for there problem comes from without them without any need for advice. Talking to people who listen is so cathartic and in one instance of somebody talking to me it prevented them from committing suicide, all I did was listen.
