A Call In Calamity

orchidee

Tune: Westminster Abbey

('Christ is made the sure foundation')

Psalm 61 parts

*********

Hear my cry, O God, hear my prayer

I will trust that you are near

From the end of the earth I call

Unto you, O hear us all

When my heart it overwhelmed is

I safe in you, sure is this

You are the rock higher than I

You my shelter ever nigh

And strong tower from enemy

I shall not defeated be

Here I will abide, your presence

Shall ever lead, guide me hence

I will in your tabernacle

Remain, there I shall not fall

And trust in cover of your wings

Unto you my tongue still sings

For you, O God, have my prayers heard

Tended to my every word

So bless us, people and nation

To all show your salvation

Unto rulers grant truth, mercy

Which may keep them constantly

Thus for your graces we praise you

Hear us, help us, us renew

Do you get answers to prayer or is it all a game people play for appearances?
Why are there never any straight answers?

        • orchidee

Thanks dusk. I believe some (most?) prayers are answered somehow. Or even all prayers, if sometimes the answer r is 'No'. Even the Psalmist, as here, has his troubles. If ultra-modern, though irreverent, one might say 'Get your finger out; do something to help me!'

Observation:- Always christianity provides nebulous answers which only believers are prepared to accept. Never any tangible answers. Have believers stopped asking questions which they NEED answers to because they know no real answers ever come. They appear happy to be fobbed off with religious gobble-de-goop.

Why yes, Fido too, I was only talking to some ducks the other day. They thought I was an impostor. Well ,they replied 'Quack' so..... there ya go! You know Calamity Jane?

                • Neville

if you want to know Calamity Jane or rather Martha Jane Cannery, you should go watch the TV series Deadwood... but make sure you follow the series from the first episode.....
