Before 40 I'm building a starship

Poetic Dan

Some songs remind us where we need to go
Others will remind us what we already know

I'm only two years away but there's something I'd like to acknowledge

I've heard Life begins at 40
Before that it was just a test run

Many bridges I have broken
Some can never be rebuilt

Although islands do not drift
The connections just not quick

But until we rise above
Using starship out of love

The ocean is our journey
Emotional waves never stop

So now I'm starting to build, one last ship
With nearly 38 years worth of blueprints

On the very first page I give thanks in my mothers name
For I held a grudge against her for far too long

The best she could do, brought up the best that's in me
For me to be truly proud of myself, It must be with all I've seen

So I'm thanking her for giving me life and the opportunity to grow
I could not be more happier with every person I've known

If it now takes the rest of my days
Assembling this new communicational way

I'd be wonderfully content with knowing I'm not full of hate

If I do somehow finish anytime soon, I'll bring Pickle Rick heading to button moon!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is the end of my dilemma with family members, we are all choosing our path and can not blame our past anymore. Siblings don't have to be responsible for each other, they should just keep the respect that was found through each other. They may not believe me but big thanks to my brother & sister, mother and stepfather..... P. S this song came on the day after I spoke my inner truth, keep following yours and all will come to you.

Yes, be proud of what you are. The things you have overcome are your CV of qualifications to be the best human being you can be.

REgarding building that one final ship.... hmm i'm doubtful. In my experience, before the ship is built you will want to build a slightly different one and before that one is complete another will enter you mind..... i'm trying to say that i think it's a continual process.
However, some ships sink in failure. Thats just life. Best thing to do then is to turn that negative into a positive. With every ending (a negative) then there must be a new beginning (a positive). Keeping that running through life is surely a recipe for contentment/happiness.... well i hope so.

Yes dear friend - life is a vital gift in which to discover the traits that bring happiness ........ a starship guided by love will take its voyagers farther than far into the real purpose of living here on this beautiful earth.

If you have reached a stage in your life, that the past is mostly mended, then all you can do is to approach those in the past that you have offended.
If they recognize your present state of mind, and are able to join you going forward, then that is just fine, but ensure that you are no longer the victim of the events of the past.
Stay strong, forty is no longer mid-life.

Those were some great words to read my friend and I could feel a defensive part kicking in, I definitely have more inner work to do.

Plus the way I've lived 70 will be a mile stone my friend.
                Honestly appreciate your time

Each new challenge is part of experience and your challenges have each been face and overcome with the strength within you, the one ahead will be less challenging and life will be wonderful.
                "Live long and prosper".

This is bloomin brilliant PD and yes, you should be proud.... I think you have come a long way in those 38 years and although you have further to go... I sincerely hope you build your starship and any other dreams you may harbour... Forgiveness is such a special gift.. I am glad you found you had it within you to offer it... Neville
